Hello, my name is Wilda. By day, I am a communications professional with over a decade of experience in the social sector.
I was introduced to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in 2015 during a particularly stressful period in my life. After taking an 8-week course at the UCSD Center for Mindfulness, I felt empowered to make decisions that ultimately allowed me to find peace and empowerment within. Other lessons remain with me to this day; I am grateful to the course for helping me cultivate a more holistic understanding of my mind, body, and emotions, as well as deeper empathy, compassion, and gratitude for myself and others.
Coming back full circle, I am now getting certified as an MBSR teacher through the UCSD Center for Mindfulness, with a group of practitioners and teachers calling ourselves the Wildflower Mindfulness Collective.
My MBSR and mindfulness lineage includes Jon Kabat-Zinn, Lucas LeardMann, Kalika McClure, Noriko Morita Harth, Beth Mulligan, Nana Korantema Pierce Williams, John Taylor, Zayda Vallejo, and Michael Wampoose.
When not practicing or teaching MBSR, I enjoy learning about the human experience in various forms—through conversations, observations, narrative films, documentaries, short series, essays, visual art, photography, nonfiction, novels, poetry, and more.
After completing intensive training and practical teaching experience, along with mentorship sessions, I am deemed qualified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) by the UC San Diego School of Medicine / UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness, Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute.
In 2023 I completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Advanced Teacher Training Intensive in North Andover, MA
It is my pleasure to recommend Wilda Wong as a trained teacher of the MBSR Certification Program at the Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute at UC San Diego. I have observed Wilda's readiness for teaching an 8-week MBSR course during the 10-week teacher training practicum. Wilda's ability to hold the space with her embodiment of mindfulness and curiosity, as well as her warm connection to participants, create a safe, kind, and engaging learning environment.
— NORIKO MORITA HARTH, MANAGING DIRECTOR, UCSD CENTER FOR MINDFULNESS
I had no expectations and found that Wilda welcomed an authentic, reflective, and inclusive learning environment. Wilda clearly explained the theory and demonstrated practices of MBSR with many adaptations for consideration. With even a slight curiosity of exploring MBSR, I would highly recommend partnering with Wilda for your journey.

Wilda was an excellent teacher and guide throughout the entire time; I appreciated her calm demeanor but what impressed me the most was her ability to adapt her teaching to meet the needs of the class. Her insights, knowledge of MBSR and caring attitude inspired confidence and made me feel at ease learning MBSR practice. I certainly would highly recommend any MBSR classes that Wilda teaches. She is a gifted teacher, and a wonderful person.
— NILDA T. CRAVENS, RN, MSN
I had the opportunity to teach MBSR with Wilda Wong. It was a really pleasant experience. She was always open to learn. Her warmth and friendly way of communicating to the students was praised during class. She was also able to connect with us through her willingness to share personal experiences, which brings a sense of common humanity so important in a class like this. I would really enjoy teaching with her again!!!
— LISETTE ATALA-DOOCY, CERTIFIED MBSR TEACHER
This was my first time taking a class on mindfulness, so I was a little nervous on what to expect. I was instantly put at ease and appreciated my teacher Wilda's calm, understanding, and positive disposition. She made the activities and breakout discussions feel open and developed a space where we could learn in a safe environment. The various mindfulness exercises she led have been useful tools that have helped me be more fully present and not overly reactive by what is going on in my life. I highly recommend this MBSR course to anyone looking for a minor shift in perspective or interested in developing new life skills.

I very much appreciated having Wilda as a teacher in a recent MBSR class I took. Wilda’s soothing tone and thoughtful pacing during meditation exercises really helped me experience the meditation more fully. Even when we students would share our experiences after the exercises, Wilda’s observations and reflections were full of compassion and recognition. I look forward to taking another class with Wilda in the future!

My name is Dr. Dennis McLeod II, psychologist and DE&I consultant...In the spaces we have shared, I have found Ms. Wong expert in her delivery of mindfulness meditation and theory. It is always a great experience to learn more about the field and, more importantly, myself under her instruction. I find she has a keen awareness of what happens within people and, somehow draws that from me every time we connect. I genuinely enjoy her presence and strongly believe anyone who joins her groups will leave better than they came! If you’re on the fence or considering an MBSR class, look no further. Somehow you’ve stumbled upon this page, at this time, with this amazing human. Guarantee you won’t regret a minute spent!

I was so very fortunate to have had Wilda as one of my MBSR class teachers over the summer. Wilda brings kindness and compassion to her teaching, and I felt very supported and cared about during the experience. Learning how to practice mindfulness has taken a lot of “unlearning” other ways of being in the world for me which can be uncomfortable, and Wilda was curious, patient, and accepting. She also demonstrated the concepts of mindful practice in her communication with us as learners by helping us expand our awareness through asking gentle questions, and she had a depth of knowledge about mindful practice that she generously shared. I remember times when she read poetry to us, and I was very moved by both the poetry and by Wilda's expression of it. I am deeply grateful to have been one of Wilda's students.

Wilda is one of the most generous and delightful teachers I've had the distinct pleasure of both training and co-teaching with in MBSR. Her enthusiasm and passion for empowering others through mindfulness shows up within her guidance—that is both fluid and fiercely compassionate. Modeling a kind curiosity of what we may learn about ourselves if we pay attention on purpose from moment to moment. Wilda invites you in with her calm presence and patient tone of voice—making the space vulnerable, safe, and inclusive for anyone who wants to incorporate mindfulness into their daily living. I’m so thrilled more communities will experience the benefits of learning from Wilda as I have—it’s a must-needed treat!
— KARLA HARGROVE, M.A., LPC, QUALIFIED MBSR TEACHER
Gentleness and precision are what I received from Wilda’s teachings. Her approach and even her connection to her cultural heritage offered me another way of seeing MBSR.

Wilda is an intuitive, compassionate and thoughtful facilitator and meditator who I have been very fortunate to learn and grow from. Her intentionality, warm and thoughtful demeanor and passion for helping people reach their fullest potential are so very evident in her practice. I highly recommend any learning or meditation spaces that Wilda is holding and am grateful for the time I have learned from her.

I recently took an 8-week MBSR course co-taught by Wilda. It was an incredible experience and I was so impressed with her calm and compassionate teaching style. I came away from the experience curious to learn more and deepen my practice of mindfulness. I am so grateful for Wilda's thoughtful approach, joyful presence, and practical wisdom. Wilda sent detailed follow-ups and it really helped me stay focused. I will definitely be relying on the lessons and the tools I learned!

After the first class, I knew that Wilda was there for me and the rest of the group. Her sincerity, kindness, and genuine interest in the group and material were palpable even over Zoom. She and her co-teacher consistently demonstrated a rare ability to genuinely listen and ask helpful follow-up questions. Despite group members having different levels of exposure to meditation and mindfulness, they were able to keep everyone engaged with their creative and often fun methods of introducing concepts. Perhaps most importantly, they were able to foster an environment where people were comfortable sharing and engaging with the other members, though there is never any pressure to do so. I felt a level of connection with the participants and instructors over Zoom I don't often get in other Zoom experiences. By the end of the class, I had grown tremendously in my understanding of how to try to get the most from my practice and had established a consistent practice that I feel I can continue.

Wilda has a gift for listening and insight that elevated every class with her. There were moments I was actually hanging on to her next word. Her compassion and respect gave me goals in my own life.

Wilda has a lot of patience and empathy. She’ll meet you where you’re at.

Learning with others was such a joy and helped normalize some of the feelings and doubts I had around my mindfulness practice and just stress management overall. I loved the space, the environment, and the curious and gentle facilitation by Wilda.
